Julio
Julio Lobo y Olavarría · Caracas, 1898 – Madrid, 1983
Known as the “King of Sugar,” Julio Lobo was a visionary Cuban entrepreneur, financier, and the wealthiest man in pre-revolutionary Cuba. He built an extraordinary sugar empire and became one of the most powerful figures in the world’s sugar market. He also gave back to his workers and communities, building schools and hospitals, providing scholarships, and launching an initiative to expand educational opportunities for children in rural Cuba. A passionate historian and collector, he assembled one of the world’s great collections of Napoleonic art and artifacts.
