Catalina
Catalina Lasa del Río Noriega · Matanzas, 1875 – Paris, 1930
One of the most celebrated women of Cuba’s Belle Époque, Catalina Lasa challenged the social conventions surrounding love, marriage, and divorce through her legendary relationship with Juan Pedro Baró. Their groundbreaking 1926 Havana residence became an extraordinary early showcase of Art Deco and modern French design in Cuba, featuring artistry by René Lalique. A delicate pale pink rose with soft yellow undertones was specially grafted and named Catalina Lasa.
